Papa Spud’s Organics is a locally-run organic produce retailer, working to provide Triangle residents with an alternative to corporate Supermarkets. Founded by Raleigh natives Rob Meyer (a returned Peace Corps Volunteer) and Ben Stone (a local peach grower – Stone’s Peaches), Papa Spud’s was started to put care and quality back into fresh food shopping. Our mission is simple: offer the highest quality produce, make fresh food shopping fun, and promote sustainable agriculture in the area.

At Papa Spud’s we consider ourselves lucky. We’re lucky because unlike corporate Supermarkets, we don’t have to rely on faceless agribusiness operations to stock our shelves. Instead, we’re able to work with local and small-scale farmers and distributors that emphasize extreme quality over quantity. First and foremost we work with North Carolina farmers to offer seasonal locally-grown items, as well as a team of trusted organic farmers in the South and West for out-of-season and exotic selections. Every apple, every tomato, every item on our shelves is checked and cared for from beginning to end, to ensure that you and your family are eating the freshest, most flavorful produce available.

We only work with sustainably-run farms, and unlike other organic retailers we don’t truck our produce around the world. We buy as close to home as possible, and encourage our customers to enjoy our local products whenever available, promoting sustainable farming while also limiting carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Above all else, we strive to bring people together toward a greener future. After all, the most sustainable future is the one we build together.
